- Indoor storage
- Vertical storage: suitable for steel pipes with smaller diameter and shorter length. Steel pipes should be placed on a horizontal base plate or positioning cardboard to avoid deformation and damage. In order to maintain the verticality of the steel pipe, a support should be set up immediately next to the wall on one side, while a support or a fixture can also be set up on the other side. The sides of the steel pipe should be kept ventilated to allow air to circulate and to prevent surface condensation from forming rust.
- Horizontal storage: This is suitable for steel pipes with large diameters and long lengths. Place the pipe across a horizontal base plate and support it with gussets. In the process of supporting, we should pay attention to the material and quantity of braces to bear the weight of steel pipe and avoid deformation. Horizontal storage is more space-saving than vertical storage.
- Hanging storage: It is suitable for steel pipes with longer length. Pipes are hung vertically on hooks to prevent bending or other damage to the pipes during storage. Hanging storage not only saves space, but also reduces the waste of materials.
Second, outdoor storage
- Site selection: when storing outdoors, firstly, we should choose a dry and ventilated site, and then use rainproof and sunshade measures. In addition, in order to avoid the steel pipe being damaged by other materials in the storage process, the steel pipe should be stored in a space more than 1m away from other materials.
- Rust protection: steel pipes stored outdoors should be regularly inspected and coated with anti-rust oil. The interval of applying oil is generally 3-6 months, which can be determined according to the environmental humidity, air temperature and other factors.
- Regular maintenance: Regularly check the storage area and storage method to ensure that the steel pipe is in a stable condition. If the steel pipe is found to be deformed or damaged, it should be replaced in time or effective measures should be taken to repair it.
